In a significant move to better manage traffic, the Mumbai Traffic Police has introduced new temporary traffic diversions in the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) from today. These changes are aimed at easing congestion and enhancing the safety of commuters during the construction of the Kherwadi flyover and other infrastructure projects in the area.
East-West connectivity Motorists travelling from the Western Express Highway (WEH) towards the Eastern Express Highway (EEH) are advised to use alternate routes via the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) or LBS Marg.
New diversion routes Vehicles travelling from Kurla towards Bandra-Kurla Complex should take a left turn at the Kanakia Zillion junction and proceed via SCLR.
Those coming from Bandra should use the Bharat Nagar junction and proceed via Dharavi T junction.
Restricted areas Specific roads, including some stretches near Kalanagar junction, will remain closed to regular traffic to facilitate construction work.
These route changes are expected to impact commuters traveling through BKC, one of Mumbai’s busiest commercial hubs. Commuters are encouraged to plan their routes in advance and allow extra travel time. Public transport users may experience changes in bus routes and timetables. Authorities are coordinating with bus operators to minimize inconvenience.
The traffic police have deployed additional personnel to effectively manage the routes. Signage and electronic boards have been installed to guide motorists. The police urge all commuters to follow the new traffic rules and cooperate with the authorities to ensure a smooth transition. The Mumbai Traffic Police will constantly monitor traffic flow and make necessary adjustments based on real-time feedback from commuters.
They are encouraging citizens to report any issues through dedicated helplines and social media channels. These temporary changes are expected to remain in place for the next few months until the ongoing construction projects are completed. Officials appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during this period.
